New Seattle Hotel Constructed Room by Room

It's hard to keep up with Seattle's ever-changing skyline, and you may have missed the latest project under construction.

It's unlike anything in our city.

In Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood just off of the 200 block of Westlake Avenue North a hotel project is stacking up like no other.

The foundation, basement and first floor look like most other hotel construction sites, but what's happening on the second floor and above is a head turner.

Giant rectangular boxes hoisted by a crane and stacked like Lego blocks are the newest concept in hotel rooms, courtesy citizenM, a Netherlands-based company.

"Our first project was built on the idea, can you put a room inside a shipping container?" said Ben McGhee, Design Manager for citizenM Seattle.
