Mortenson Hosts MPS Students for MMAC COSBE Business Tour

This week, 22 seventh graders from Milwaukee Public School’s Escuela Vieau had the opportunity to tour the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Center for Advanced Care Level M – 12 expansion project as part of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC) Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) Be The Spark! Business Tours. Students spent the morning learning about Mortenson, Froedtert, different career paths in construction, and toured the project.

The students learned about Building Information Modeling, which allows construction professionals to virtually model all aspects of the building before constructing it. They viewed the model in the field using an iPad and identified system components that support the building’s infrastructure. This tour marks the sixth tour Mortenson has hosted for the COSBE program, which means we’ve shared our passion for construction with close to 200 middle school students!
