Mortenson Promotes Joel Sandridge to Lead Project Development in Chicago

Mortenson has promoted Joel Sandridge to project development executive. In his new position, Sandridge will lead Mortenson’s project development team in Chicago and set its business development strategy, including extending its leadership in such sectors as higher education, healthcare, corporate and data centers, as well as identifying and pursuing new markets.

Since joining Mortenson in September 2015 as a project development manager, Sandridge’s impact on the builder’s business in Chicago has been wide-ranging and significant. He played a key role in project wins, including Harper College’s Sports and Wellness Center, and Northwestern University’s Welsh Ryan Arena renovation. He also continues to work in collaboration with Mortenson’s real estate development business on identifying opportunities in hotel, multifamily and medical office buildings in the Chicago region.

“Joel has been a strong contributor since the day he joined Mortenson. His experience as an architect adds important insight and perspectives that enhance our client proposals and work while he consistently demonstrates a passion for establishing customer relationships, working closely with team members and making projects happen,” said Greg Werner, senior vice president and head of Mortenson’s Chicago office. “In his new role, Joel will continue to help drive the growth and success of Mortenson in Chicago.”

Before joining Mortenson, Sandridge spent more than 15 years in the industry working as a project architect and designer, project manager and business development associate for Solomon Cordwell Buenz, FGM Architects and VOA Associates (now Stantec). He holds a master of architecture and bachelor of science in architectural studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
