At Mortenson, safety is not just a priority, it is a value that is central to everything we do. Our Zero Injury Safety Program is the backbone of our safety philosophy. Our safety professionals and team members are committed to zero injuries, and each individual holds themselves personally accountable daily. Our Portland team is celebrating 365 days with ZERO INJURIES! Our team members, customers and partners are part of the Mortenson family and there is nothing more important to us than sending everyone home safely every day. A huge thank you to our 50 craft team members for working over 350,000 hours across 13 different projects who everyday keep safety at the forefront of all what we do.

Our safety approach is based on the expectation that we can eliminate all injuries through the implementation of behavior obligations and empowering all team members to make the right decisions. Safety Manager, Dalton Gensch, has been instrumental in spearheading our leading indicators and Zero Injury Programs.

“Achieving this milestone is a direct testament to every single individual inside and outside our organization, coming together as a team, with the obligation that we all own Zero Injuries. Through the pursuit, design, pre-project/pre-task planning, and execution of the work on our projects, our team members keep safety as one of our core values,” Gensch said. “When you add this 24/7 safety mentality to the ‘Culture of Care’ and ‘Family’ culture we have strived to develop and see on our projects, every team member turns home safely.”

Congratulations to the Portland office on this significant milestone! Our team is excited to continue this momentum and continue our obligation to eliminating all injuries on our worksites.
