Shareah grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering.

When first attending college, her end goal was to be an architect. During her sophomore year, she interned with the Naval Research Laboratory, where she was introduced to solar energy. At the time, she did not know that this internship would spark an interest in renewable energy. Her sights shifted after her first few college semesters and she decided construction was a better fit for her. 
Everything fell into place when she started working with Mortenson. She found that Mortenson’s values closely aligned with her own. 

She enjoys that the Wind Energy Group allows her to travel to different areas of the United States and allows her to work and learn with the best in the industry.
Shareah believes a significant challenge in the industry is that it is male-dominated. Having a mentor to discuss career aspirations and development with can make a huge difference. Shareah is inspired by being a mentor to young girls in her community who are interested in the STEM field.
 
Shareah knows that communication is the key to success: “It’s important to understand that different individuals have different communication styles. Understanding your own style and the styles of others can go a long way. Don’t let minor setbacks or challenges affect your work; try to move past the bumps in the road. Know that your input is valuable and make sure your voice is heard.”
