Allstate Insurance Data Center / RochelleIL

The Allstate Data Center is a 52,600-square foot Tier III enterprise data center. The facility includes 14,100 square feet of raised floor and support galleries over a depressed slab. The raised floor area is supported by a 2N electrical distribution, 2N UPS system, N+1 generators, N+1 mechanical equipment, 2N mechanical piping, 2N domestic water service, and 2N primary electrical service (power routed from two substations). The building is designed to withstand an EF-2 tornado with sustained winds of 135 mph. The project is LEED® Gold Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council providing Allstate with a facility that is 70% more efficient than their existing data centers.

Based on our performance and strong relationship with Allstate, we were asked to provide further construction services for an 80,000-square foot Call Center and Training Facility in San Antonio, TX, and a 78,000-square foot Call Center in Chubbuck, ID.

This greenfield construction project achieved LEED® Gold, an industry first at the time, set by a high standard of energy efficiency. The project includes several sustainable features:

- Energy Efficiency - Building and systems designed to exceed code by 20%. Heating, lighting, cooling, free cooling with heat exchanger, a heat exchanger wheel in one of the AHUs, heat exchangers in UPS rooms

- Roof - Light-colored roof reflects solar radiation

- Materials - Building components specified with a minimum of 20% recycled content and low toxicity

- Daylighting - Use of natural light and occupancy sensors to reduce lighting load

- Stormwater Management - Site designed to infiltrate stormwater into aquifer rather than storm sewer

- Sunshades - Louvers to block the western sun

- Plumbing Fixtures - Low flush fixtures throughout

- Closed-Circuit Cooling Towers - Closed water loop to reduce water usage

- Building Management System - System designed to monitor power consumption at all levels of the plant to allow for system optimization

- Native Landscape - Site landscaping with Native grass and trees planted to reflect natural growth patterns and require no irrigation
