Fort Campbell Blanchfield Army Hospital
Blanchfield Army Community Hospital / Fort CampbellKY
How do you do an expansion of an Army community hospital?
The project involved a new 44,700 square foot addition to the existing Emergency Center, Mother-Baby Care, and Behavioral Health Units at the Fort Campbell Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH). Additional scope included 16,000 square feet of renovations to existing areas adjacent to the new additions. Extensive site work in several locations around the hospital campus including the construction of a new helipad, the construction of a new Emergency Center patient drop-off and entrance, the reconfiguration of existing parking areas and the construction of new parking spaces, relocation of existing site utilities, and the construction of new access roads. The project also included a significant amount of demolition work, including the removal of an existing building as well as the existing helipad and ambulance entry. The new construction involved a combination of structural concrete, CMU block walls, metal exterior panels, curtain wall, concrete floor slabs, conventional membrane roofing, and a pre-vegetated ("green") modular roof system over the new Mother-Baby Unit.
