Mortenson was selected by ENGIE North America (ENGIE) to construct the 250 MW King Plains Wind Project located in Garber County, Oklahoma. The project, comprised of 88-2.82 MW GE turbines, spans approximately 60 square miles. 

The scope of work included access roads, public road upgrades, foundations, collection, substation, O&M building, turbine erection of 88 GE 2.82 turbines and tower wiring. At peak construction, 200-250 people were employed on-site.

Including King Plains, Mortenson has erected 667 turbines in Oklahoma generating 1,264 MW of energy. Mortenson’s first Oklahoma wind project was constructed in 2003 and produced 74 MW of energy.

Mortenson also constructed the 300 MW Prairie Hill wind project in Limestone County, Texas, for ENGIE. The Prairie Hill project had a parallel construction schedule to King Plains.
