PROJECT ENGAGEMENT SNAPSHOT
$35M FOOD PROCESSING EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER
The Need
A global manufacturer of equipment for the oilseed processing industry ran out of space for their production testing and piloting facilities at their existing headquarters. With pressures to maintain market share and meet customers' ever-changing demands, they needed space to be able to invest in research and development.
The Solution
Mortenson found an ideal up-and-coming site for the manufacturer and helped negotiate an agreement with the city’s economic development authority, releasing TIF funds that made the deal more feasible for the company. With the tax incentives and agreement with the city, the manufacturer is able to build 70,000 square feet of new operations, including offices, research facilities and an oilseed extraction plant. In fact, the new pilot plant will be triple the size of its current pilot plant.
The Result
Once complete, the manufacturer will have space for production testing and piloting in order to remain competitive in the market. Their new real estate assets will leverage industry-leading technology that will allow customers to simulate plant-processing operations within a controlled environment, as well as support customer interaction in trials and provide them with maintenance and operation training. In addition, the manufacturer will have capacity to accommodate a 37 percent increase in global headquarters staff, which will in turn provide economic benefits for the city.
