We Learn to Learn for our Customers
At Mortenson we know how to learn-to-learn. We think of our projects through our customers desired vision and adapt to make sure we are delivering the best possible outcome. But everything that we are doing is so new, so how do we do it?
My best guess is the combination of an empathy-led, camaraderie-based on-site leadership. This leadership has created a team that builds a micro-grid in a fully-functioning 150-bus depot in downtown DC with solar, BESS, natural gas generators, and EV chargers, all working in an islanded mode (something never done before). These are unsolvable problems to some of our industry peers, but that’s what we do here.

I'm deeply committed to supporting and mentoring the next generation. At Mortenson, we provide our team members with tools and support through formal training, informal mentorships, and making sure they have opportunities to gain critical on-the-job experience.
We also want to have fun while encouraging learning and innovation. So we empower our teams to use their imaginations to develop innovations and efficiencies; creatively solve problems; take on new challenges; tap into their potential; and ultimately, bring out the best in each other. After all, knowledge can have a limit…but imagination never will!
